This is my favorite sayings by the Buddha as “Right Speech” is part of the Noble Eightfold Path. And we all have experienced how something someone said upsets…or heals…so easily. By speaking kindly, truthfully, and not using harsh language, we can help promote peace.

Before you speak out in anger (or with meaningless words) take a breath, concentrate, and be mindful of what comes out of your mouth.

Share this post with your friends  and let’s bring each other a little peace!

Here is the rest of the verse:

“Better than a thousand hollow words
Is one word that brings peace.
Better than a thousand hollow verses
Is one verse that brings peace
.Better than a hundred hollow lines
Is one line of the law, bringing peace.”

Found in “The Thousands” from the Dhammapada, as translated by Thomas Byrom.
